Research
American scientists looking for a solution to improve creatine absorption have conducted an experiment with 47 male athletes aged 19 to 21 years.
The study lasted 8 weeks and the participants were divided into three groups:
- the placebo group took 70g of glucose
- second group 70g glucose with 5g creatine
- third group 3.5g creatine and 900mg fenugreek
Results
The third group using creatine supplemented with fenugreek achieved the same progression as the second group, which used creatine supplementation with glucose.
Conclusions
The use of fenugreek supplementation is a good alternative to help our body use creatine. It is a good solution for people who avoid too many carbohydrates who would like to increase the effectiveness of creatine.
Fenugreek appears to have an effect that plays a similar role to carbohydrates in relation to creatine absorption. However, scientists do not yet know the mechanism of action of fenugreek in combination with creatine and what its phenomenon is. They also do not want to speculate about the possible effects on insulin management.
It is known, however, that fenugreek slows down the rate of absorption of gastrointestinal content in the digestive tract, which may be responsible for the fact that creatine has more time to absorb in the small intestine. This situation also makes glucose levels more stable.
