Greater celandine (Chelidonium maius) is a plant of Europe, as also in northern Asia, its the medicinal raw material is a herb of celandine (Herba Chelidonii), picked up during the flowering and the juice from fresh stems, it is bactericidal, antiallergic, antispasmodics, cytostatic. The raw material contains several of the isoquinoline alkaloids (including chelidonine, sanguinarine, protopine), saponins triterpenes, biogenic amines (such as histamine, tyramine), flavonoids, sugars, organic acids, minerals and trace amounts of essential oil. Contraindication is using preparations in the longer term, as it may irritate the digestive tract, it can cause vomiting, cramps of uterus.
