St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a plant of the Eurasian climate occurring commonly in the meadows and fallow land. St. John's wort (Herba Hyperici) is used in medicine, having urinary, cholepoietic and cholagogue, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antiseptic properties and stimulating digestion, including: dyes (red and yellow), choline, flavonoids (including rutin and quercetin) , phytosterols, sugars, pectin, essential oils, minerals and vitamins (C, PP, carotene). Contraindication to use wort are: an elevated body temperature, liver and kidney diseases. St. John's wort is an ingredient of many pro-health herbal blends.
