L-glutamine alpha-ketoglutarate is a salt formed from a combination of glutaric acid and glutamine amino acid, in a single molecule, allowing for enhanced action (synergy) of the two components resulting in increased bioavailability and catabolic activity. With the presence of glutamine, synthesis of protein is more efficient, removal of toxic ammonia outside the organism. Glutamine (often I-glutamine or NAG) is essential to the functioning of the immune system. Alpha-ketoglutarate has the ergogenic potential and it participates in the synthesis of glutamate.
In sports supplementation L-Glutamine alpha-ketoglutarate is a component of modern amino acid formulations and pre- and post-workout supplements in strength athletics, particularly effective in the recovery of the post-workout and reduced immunity.
Dosage: no standards for daily intake, the dose commonly used in sports supplementation: 2-5 grams, 2-4 times a day, before and after workout, also in the morning after waking up and in the evening before bedtime.
