What is Sulphoraphane?
Sulphoraphane is a component of broccoli and other crucifers, known for its anticancer properties.
It exhibits great efficacy in preventing mainly the types of cancer induced by excessive oestrogen levels. The mechanism is based on sulphoraphane’s ability to adhere to aryl hydrocarbon receptors (AHR) with very low effectivity in activating them, that way blocking much stronger agonists that could increase aromatase levels to a greater extent and, as a result, stimulate oestrogen synthesis. Sulphoraphane also exhibits some anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential, thanks to which it creates a less beneficial environment for cancer; it can also enhance the organism’s overall health.
The stimulation of AMPK activity in cells can help to utilise fat reserves deposited in the organism more efficiently. Taking into account its ability to inhibit myostatin as well, sulphoraphane seems to be a fantastic substance for athletes.
